May 2010 - Hiking in Red Rock National Conservation Area

The Red Rock National Conservation Area is in the Mojave Desert near Las Vegas.  We like to visit here occasionally with the grandchildren.  

It is a great hiking location with interesting rock formations...

and lots of interesting desert vegetation.

And occasionally, if you look closely, you might see some little desert animals.

November 2010 - Snow in the Mountains and other sights

These are a few random pictures we took on the road from Las Vegas to home.

The mountains around Tehachapi.

The fallish pictures were taken at the Murray Farms rest area not too far east of Bakersfield CA.

And the full moon is somewhere along the way.

April 2011 - Incredible Storm Clouds

As Mary was driving to Las Vegas the skies turned the inkiest black she had ever seen.  She was in the Kramer Junction, California area on State Route 58 between Mojave and Barstow.
